Readable and Good Presentation - Rated 'Fighting Techniques' covers an ambitious slice of early modern history, and is well presented, with many illustrations. The main subject headings are; infantry, mounted warfare, command and control, siege warfare and naval warfare. The authors are a well qualified star cast with a range of specialisms - though who has written what is not immediately apparent. The text is informed and readable, but lacks in terms of depth: other than a relatively short bibliography there is no method of determining from where individual facts or opinions are gleaned. In short a good value and attractive book, but not by any means a ground breaking production.
