As young Tammo dreams of joining the Long patrol--the legendary army of fighting hares which serves the Lady Cregga Rose Eyes, Ruler of Salamandastron--the brutal reality of a battle with Damug Warfang's mighty battalion of savage Rapscallions fast approaches.

Brian Jacques has proved time and time again that he has the ability to grab his readers by the throat and transport them into a world of fantasy and adventure that many writers of adult books would love to emulate. The Long Patrol, A Tale of Redwall, certainly proves the point yet again, but distinguishes itself by being perhaps the very best of all the Redwall books so far. Relying less and less on the old, familiar Redwall characters and more and more on the ingenuity and passion of younger blood, The Long Patrol will certainly win Jacques a fresh following while continuing to delight his existing army of fans. (9 years and over) --Susan Harrison

The Long Patrol - Rated 5/5
The Long Patrol

The book I am reviewing is called The Long Patrol. It is about the fighting hares that serve Lady Cregga rose eyes ruler of Salamandastron.
The main characters would be the courageous young hare Tammo who wants to join the long patrol, Dammug Warfang firstblade of all Rapscallians. (Killed by Cregga rose eyes.)
The Rapscallians try to take over the abbey of Reddwall. The warriors from the abbey and Salamandastron join together and defeat the Rapscallians.
I enjoyed this book because it was full of adventure and war.
My favourite character was Arven the Abbey warrior holding the sword of Martin the warrior.
I don’t think there are any bad points. I would give it 9-10.

I think it is exciting - Rated 5/5
My favourite character is the Galloper Riffle because he is brave and quite important but not the leader. I really enjoyed reading The Long Patrol, and it is one of my favourite Redwall books. I've enjoyed all the Redwall books that I've read so far. I've read the book that comes after the Long Patrol - it's called Marlfox, and it is good too.

Brian Jacques does it again! - Rated 5/5
Even better than the book!! Brian Jacques uses his impressive range of voices to bring all the characters to life! The only porblem is that some minor bits are abridged to save space, and sometimes this sort of dampens the atmosphere of the novel. But overall, a REALLY GREAT audio book! Why wasn't this made into a movie?

THE GREATEST REDWALL BOOK OF ALL TIME!!!!! - Rated 5/5
I am a great fan of the Redwall series, and The Long Patrol is by far the BEST Redwall book of them all! With dashing adventure, wonderful humour, book-gripping action and a final climatic battle, this is truly Brian Jacques masterpiece!

Surprisingly good read - Rated 5/5
I read this novel expecting it to be one of the less impressive Redwall stories, but I now rank it as one of my favourites! You could be forgiven for thinking this was one of Jacques' first creations. The story is full of action and adventure as well as putting Redwall into a historical context. I particularly admire Jacques' portayal of the battle, which for once seemed realistic to me.
