Invitation to experience - Rated
Carlos Castaneda is of course the writer of at least 10 books about his supposed meetings with the Mexican sorcerer-group headed by Don Juan Matus. If you have ever been jealous of the way he almost despite himself (and his over-rational mind) became the witness of events that would change the way he perceived things forever, this is the book for you. Victor Sanchez is a Mexican anthropologist who lived for 15 years among the native people of Mexico. From his experiences with them he learned countless techniques to supplement and corroborate those already presented in Castaneda's books. He put all these techniques and rituals together in one book, that enables us to experience ourselves some of the things Castaneda went through during his apprenticeship. The explanations are very clear, and he doesn't fall for the blind fanaticism some less stable people display when speaking about Castaneda.
This book is the most accurate interpertation of mexican sh - Rated
I personally went to a 4 day workshop near Santa Fe New Mexico several years ago.. Victor Sanchez is the real thing..a real Shaman. If the reader will allow the ideas presented in the book to sink in and be tried out for oneself, I am most certian that you will understand.
It is a shallow interpretation - Rated
it is a shallow interpretation that belittles the lifetime struggle of the doctor Carlos Castaneda. It completely misses the point of what it means to live impecably in the tradition of the chamans of ancient mexico. Sanchez obviosly is capitalizing on the magical attraction of the wisdom within the works of Castaneda. It does not come close to the experience of living and reading the complete series of Castaneda. If you really want the practical side of this magical world please direct yourself to the book Magical Passes of the same author.
A must read for any serious reader(or skeptic) of Castanda - Rated
Victor Sanchez does what should be done with any path with heart, he follows it. Sanchez has done everything Casteneda had done and found out, through his own rigors, and through the real life experiences with the Wirrarika and Nauhas tribes of Mexico(ancient descedents of the ancient Toltecs of Tula, whom share ancestors with others including the Yaqui. In other words, Sanchez has successfully put in to practice Castaneda's books; and he knows how to explain what he and Casteneda have done. He concretely and susinctly explains everything of use in the Castaneda books. He breaks it down meaning for meaning, all the while giving practical insights on how to actually implement Toltec spiritual living. His suggestions on implementing these ideas are miraculous and inspirational. This book is ideal for any serious reader or skeptic of the Castaneda. Sanchez is able corroborate, as a witness, another indigenous tribe whom have even more purely kept alive the ancient Toltec traditions. He, in fact, gives convincing credence by sighting other references in which he has also discovered corroborating evidence. In "Toltecs of the Millenium" (Sanchez'96) he indepthly goes into his experiences with this Wirrarika, which took place for fifteen years in the virtual seclusion of an obscure mountainous area of (I'm assuming) North-central, to N.W. Mexico. Both are very well written, clear, informative, and very inspirational.
