Customer Reviews

Very useful book - Rated 5/5
Written in rather an eccentric style for this type of book, it is like discussing things with a friend. Recommended

Great for a longer term budgeter - Rated 4/5
I liked this book because it looked at things on a much longer term than other books i have read of this type. It reminds you to take a step back once in a while and question why you spend on what you do. Its reminds you that the simple, free (or cheaper) things in life often bring the greater pleasure. I did, at times, find this book a bit soft and fluffy but on the whole I enjoyed it and have changed the things I consider when spending. This book sells an ideology of a simple, more content life and warns of the dangers of over consuption.

Saving money on proof-reading? - Rated 3/5
Generally an informative read with one or two different ideas to other books within the genre. However - the amount of typing errors and mis-spellings does detract somewhat to the extent that I wondered if they were practising spending less on proof-readers?

Some fair points, but some very opinionated advice - Rated 2/5
The book is in three stages, the problem, the solution and the tactics.
I find "The Problem" goes on and on about things, and is somewhat depressing. I like things written concisely if possibly, rather than being written at length.
The solution offers 7 great mottos. However, again they are discussed at some length, but not excessive.
As for the tactics, I have to say I strongly disagree with some of them. There is definite advice against personal pensions in the book - I am not sure how the author considers herself qualified to offer such advice.
And another tip is to get a job with the government. Again, I am not sure if the author has ever worked for the government herself. From my experience, having worked for the government, I feel that this tip could trigger a very heated debate.
I also observe there is a piece of information with respect to interest paid on a mortgage over 25 years. While I would not be allowed to say it is incorrect, I would advise the reader to do their own calculation and see if they agree with it.
With the strong opinions without justification, and my disagreement with the mathematics of the author, I cannot take this book seriously.

Best book I have ever read! - Rated 5/5
I got this book home and couldn't put it down. Since reading this book I have been able to visit The Trafford Centre without spending hundreds of pounds, I have not used my credit cards for 3 and a half months and I have realised what a ridiculous expense christmas is.
This book really sends it home how greedy we are and how we are never satisfied with all the wonderful things we already have in life. Also has hundreds of money making and saving tips.

Everyone should read this book and stop making rich people richer!
