I was disappointed with this book - I'm sure it would appeal to somebody younger and funkier than me but I did feel a bit misled by the cover as in my opinion the designs shown on there aren't a fair representation of most of the content.

The book is smaller in size than I expected and a lot of the designs are too "masculine" for me, I like pretty, elegant bags, and I would never use most of the bags shown in this book. I certainly don't want a bag made of wire mesh, galvanised wire or novelty turf - far too scratchy! - but others might, of course. To be fair there are some pretty designs, like the opera bag and the silk patchwork bag, but on the whole I have a feeling it's one of those books that will end up collecting dust on my bookshelf and never be opened again.

I think this book is like Marmite - you'll either love it or hate it!

there are several good ideas in the book, also a few very quirky ideas!all in all,a useful book with clear instructions and infomation.

I bought this as a gift for a handbag-making girlfriend.

She loves this book. It has so many funky designs, along with hints and tips on tools and techniques. She has already made a couple of the designs and they look great!

Buy it if you want to make your own bags and don't know where to start. Be warned though, a certain level of knowledge and ability is assumed, so it'll help if you can use a sewing machine and scissors and stuff. That's me out then!

So far this is the only handbag book that has actually inspired me to make my own bags. It is clear and consice in it's language and has enough ideas to keep most people inspired for quite some time. Very, very glad I ignored the other review and got the book.

Not what i expected - Rated
I was very excited about this book- I chose it above the others on amazon because it promised "beautiful bags" and, (more fool me) the cover was well designed and looked modern. After I received it, I was extremely disappointed to find NOT ONE of the bags described inside was up to scratch. They all looked amateurish, badly made and impractical. The ones that had interesting details like fabric flowers or beading might have been useful for learning sewing techniques, but the book then tells you to buy your own, so you never actually learn how to create these from scratch. The instructions are unclear and illustated ( I feel photographs are better with this subject matter)
I wouldn't ever use any of the bags depicted in this book, let alone design them for sale.

A complete waste of money.
