This is a great book - full of practical advice and easy to read. I read it through once and had lots of ah-ha moments when I realised how I could be working differently with the kids. Then actually had a go - so easy to follow.

"Flying Start" has been my bedside companion for the past few months, I regularly flick through it to remind myself of all the practical tips Emma has given us. I have used the book on a daily basis not only with my own children but to help the parents who bring their children to my nursery. My staff team have been putting into practise the different strategies and have been amazed at the results. It is a usable book which can cause a lot of excitement because of the changes that occur from doing simple things that Emma has explained so wonderfully! Thank you so much!

As both a parent and a Mathematics teacher I feel this is a very useful book indeed. It successfully takes theories used in coaching and adult management training and reminded me how these can be used simply and effectively both with my own children and in my classroom, with children of any ability, to help develop more positive attitudes to learning and life in general. I found Flying Start very easy to read and I think I'll be dipping back into it time and time again.

A great book - interesting, informative and filled with so much practical advice. The stories ring true and everyone will be able to relate to them. Emma has a fantastic turn of phrase, which easily communicates some very powerful information and techniques - it also makes for a very easy read. It is as though lots of technical jargon has been run through an interpretor and translated into laymans terms. This book will become your constant companion, on hand always to help YOU and YOUR CHILDREN.

I have been bowled over by Emma's book. It is an easy read with real advice that really works. Thank goodness for a book that is easy to apply to the normal family in a 21st century world. The spelling strategy has changed the world of my 11 year old son. Thank you so much. If you want to be the best parent you can be get this book.
