Customer Reviews

A fantastic, very original read - Rated 5/5
I loved the originality and scope of this book. Yes, it's a great science-fiction tale, but oh, so much more. Following a group of gifted teenagers in a post-apocalytic Russia, it beautifully explores their developing maturity, while at the same time delivering a page-turning thriller. The characters are rounded and real and the setting and situation, while wonderfully imaginative, are not enough removed from possibility that you escape the 'what if...?' factor. This author clearly does a lot of research (something even more apparent in her book "Sand Daughter"), which always impresses me. I liked this book so much I wrote to the publishers to congratulate Ms Bryant - something I had never done before. Do give it a go.

Gripping totalitarian fantasy - Rated 5/5
I was daunted at first by the prospect of more than 500 pages, but once I started reading City of the Sun I found it hard to put it down. A brilliant plot, strong and complex characters, all set in a vivid, dark world sometimes a little too close for comfort.
A great read - thought provoking, exciting, a true emotional ride. Well worth buying.

A thriller with a difference - Rated 5/5
An easy-to-get-into read that holds your attention. This book will appeal to those who liked "1984", as it along a similar theme, but in a more modern setting. It's the tale of a futuristic nightmarish society from the point of view of children who have grown up in it. A good mix of action and political ideology gone wrong with a splash of science fiction thrown in, and a refreshing change from your average thriller.

A stomping adventure - Rated 5/5
I've never read anything by Sarah Bryant before but I definitely will be looking out for more by her. I was totally blown away by City of the Sun. It's quite reminiscent of 1984 and, in parts, Gorky Park. Whilst the adventure rips along you're sucked into the characters lives and really care what happens to them. A thrilling read, which I would recommend to anyone.

City of the Sun, Sarah Bryant - Rated 5/5
This is the ultimate page turner. This exciting story set in a scarily realistic future is brilliantly executed and never stops to entertain from the first page to the last!
