A special book about parental alienation - Rated
This is a special book about parental alienation. An only too common result of inter human relationships where the incompetence of one - or both - of the parents of a child to deal with the emotions involved around a divorce leads to a hate campaign against the other parent. The result displays in the child; (verbal) abuse against and ultimately rejection of the targeted parent. A surviving mechanism where the child displays perfectly normal behaviour to absolutely abnormal situations.
It was Dr. Richard Gardner MD who first described the Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS) back in 1985. His entrepreneurial approach lead to further research and fierce discussions. These discussions about PAS became a war zone where the ultimate aim of the discussions moved from the best way to solve abnormal situations for children to debating the existence of PAS leading to personal vendettas against believers. The first psychologist in the United Kingdom to step into this mine field was Dr. Ludwig Lowenstein.
In his book, Dr. Lowenstein has succeeded in meticulously describing the parental alienation process, the effect it has on the child(ren), the parents, how it can be avoided, how it should be treated, the misinterpretation by officials, the incomprehension of the environment. With two contributions to the "International Handbook of Parental Alienation Syndrome" and his most recent book on the same subject, Dr. Lowenstein is a prominent scientist in this particular field, who can not be disregarded.
