Definitely A+ - Rated
Alex Linley excels in his own strength of taking the science and bringing it to life in one of the most engaging, accessible and well-written books in the field of positive psychology.
A+ for Alex - Rated
I love this kind of subject matter but it's rare that you come across something based on academia that is actually written for the masses. Alex clearly has a gift for dumbing down
This is on the same wavelength as Marcus Buckingham's 'signature strengths' material but cleverly combines messages from positive psychology and good old fashioned common sense. No big words. No evangelism, although you do get the distinct impression that it's written from the heart
The chapter on the 'golden seed' is inspired. The book is worth buying for this concept alone
Practical Inspiration For Life! - Rated
If you want to experience life on a whole new level, and you want to be able to help others to experience this too, Average to A+ is the book for you. In particular I was really impressed (blown away actually!) by how Dr Alex Linley made SO MUCH cutting edge scientific research into such an EASY-to-read book FULL of practical inspiration for life. This is clearly evidence of Dr Linley's strengths in action! I highly recommend this book.
Cutting Edge Strengths - Rated
Average to A+ is the logical next step for anyone interested in strengths as a science or in applying strengths to his or her own life. Linley presents easy to understand definitions, clear examples, and a great approach for translating research into usable suggestions. Linley's approach to strengths moves beyond existing frameworks such as the VIA and StrengthsFinder and includes great concepts like strengths spotting and golden seeds. I highly recommend this book.
A practical deep dive - Rated
If you are even the least bit intrigued by positive psychology and strengths-based thinking, this book is a must-have. Linley deepens the rationale for the strengths approach and provides a tremendous number of references to tools, methods and experts on this topic. Packed with information yet easy-to-digest, this book is a very valuable follow-up to current best-sellers on this topic. Business leaders ... parents ... coaches ... psychologists ... philanthropists -- everyone can maximize their "strengthspotting" potential through Linley's generous thinking in this book.
