How can you say it this is a genius book. - Rated Once in a while a book comes along and its a work of genius. This book is one of those. It is a sons (Terry Richardson) book about his Fathers life the infamous Bob Richardson (B.R.). Most of B.R.s works have not survived his life, quite literally, I assume that that only a few boxes of negatives exist and most of his photos only live on in magazines. The last time I saw B.R. in print was in the "BIG" magazines special BOB only edition in around 1998. The printed book is a mix of what is left of B.R.s oeuvre, printed negatives and printed facsimile magazine page including Vogue. Photography that is as radical as his, sons, Terry's photography is today. The next part of the book is an autobiography in decade and year form. The final section is B.R.s last journey traveling home, called "On The Run" LA to New York, A book of photos that is worth printing in deluxe gravure printing on heavy heavy paper its own right. Photos included here are USA icons, American flags (liberty), Harley Davidson (freedom), gas stations (reliance), route 66 also a mural of Jim Morrison (immortality), road side crosses and windmills (Pioneers) (Christian) (Faith), road side cafes (sustenance), postcards (pre 911, loss), trees in a national park (national pride), one or two gravestones of familiar names (reflection), anarchic bumper stickers with similar plates (freedom of speech), philosophical notes signed "B.R." (wryly truthful) and finally New York, New York State, Coney Island, pictures of an off season Coney fun fair with a picture of a "shoot the freak" attraction. The last and final page is B.R.s Obituary. Some how if a soul can live on in a physical object then this is Bobs final resting place, a modern classic and sure to only become more valuable over time. Technically superb edition by Dimiani Italian publishers. And a big thank you to Terry Richardson, for this is a thoroughly well deserved monument. And to end this review, I will do as the book does, quote another genius "If the writing is honest, it cannot be separated from the one who writes it" Tennessee Williams. This book is all that.

Once in a while a book comes along and its a work of genius.
This book is one of those.
