A Revolution - Rated 4/5
Ok unlike Karate or Kung Fu, Krav Maga doesn't rely on strength or good co-ordination, the art is based upon the body's own reflexes in certain situations, and it uses these reflexes and turns them into self-defense techniques. This book also has good chapters on weapons, drills and some good real life stories of true life-or-death situations. Its relatively easy to pick up and remember and if nothing else gives you a good understanding of how to react when faced with a knife or gun which in this chav-wannabe-gangsta day and age we live in is a possibility. You even get taught how to rescue hostages and stop a grenade being let off. I think this book is excellent for doormen, police or armed forces people who have to deal with this sort of stuff all the time. Don't let Michele Ryan stumbling about in the Bionic Woman put you off, Krav Maga is anything but girlie.

This book is brilliant! A Must Have! - Rated 5/5
This book is the real deal! It was written by the Founder Imi Sde-Or and his Senior disciple and follower Eyal Yanilov. It is the only authorized comprehensive manual to Krav Maga! It has been written extremely well! well laid out, structured and very easy to read! It demonstrates every concept and principles of the techniques well. I'm currently a student of Krav Maga training with a man who was taught Krav Maga by Eyal Yanilov himself in Israel. This book gives very good insight into, and really does give the Krav Maga system the true justice it deserves for being such an easy, simple, foolproof, effective and reality based system to learn!

The book as the title dictates is defense against armed assailants. It has detailed information about stick fighting, Knife defense, gun defense, multiple assailants, improvised weapons and hostage situations (focused at protection of friends, relatives etc. from attack)

I have bought a unauthentic Krav Maga Manual that cost me more than this book and it is a fraction of the thickness and is completely useless compared to this book! I felt that most of the concepts were miss taught and the book has been poorly produced. I fully recommend this book and advise against getting other Krav Maga manuals off any other authors. I'd also say that this book is for ANYONE! who wants to learn practical self defense techniques which could save their lives some day! and against going to other systems and arts. I have personally been there and done most of them. The only system that isn't fooled by a real defense situation! That has been tested and refined so much that it is almost fool proof is Krav Maga.

I Look forward to when they release the soon to come defense against 'unarmed assailant' I have already Bought my copy when it is released!!

the art is in the simplicity - Rated 5/5
well i've been studying krav maga for 6 months now, and i don't refer to the book as much as i used to as to put it simply i've learned it off by heart, but initially i studied this book intensively and read it over and over making notes and highlighting constantly. I found that the knowledge in this book was vital to me of giving me the edge in the training classes i attend, as well as giving you more variety and a deeper understanding of the underlying principles of krav maga.

You quickly realise that there are a relatively small amount of technical procedures which can be applied over and over again to various different situations. Knife threat techniques can also lend similarities of gun threat techniques etcc. Also to comment on another review where he questioned the peron defending knife attacks with kicks, he is in fact slightly misunderstanding this technique. Generally these moves will be applied to an attacker moving quickly towards you, and not so much stationary, although a good practioner can also do this equally effectively but the main point is that krav maga utilises kicks in order to stop the attacker at range before he can close to a distance to sink the blade into your neck. Again kicks are encouraged to most knife threat and stabbing situtions but are based on a simple and easy to do mechanism

However like all things this book should be used in conjunction with rigourous training regimes, to internalise and realise the full depth and variety that is krav maga and to give you the experience to know when to use what and how.

Cool - Rated 5/5
As a martial arts instructor, I am always looking for techniques designed to work in actual combat. As this system focuses on the basic, and instinctive I believe it does just that. Although I would always advise people to run away from guys with knives, but where that isnt an option, there are techniques here that may hold the key. A good read!

Great book on Self defence/offence - Rated 4/5
This book represents one aspect of Krav Maga ie the attacks against armed attackers. The only reason it doesnt get 5 stars is the defence against knives includes high kicking which seems odd(leaves the leg open for slashing counterattacks) & low kicking is shown defended by dropping the hand to deflect it.This however leaves the face open to hand strikes.Otherwise this is excellent & would provide the inexperienced & experienced alike with good foundation skills.I look forward to other volumes from the Krav Maga organisation.
